SAFETY POLICY

Operationally, SITCO values and prioritizes safety & environmental protection. In order to ensure the safest work conditions, SITCO has developed safety rules and manuals to encourage all project personnel to take an active role in the adherence and continuous implementation of job safety practices in the dayto-day operations. SAFETY MEASURES

General
  • First Aid Kit is maintained on site with clear marking showing location
  • Holes and openings should be clearly marked and surrounded by rails and toe boards, unless properly covered.
  • All slab exterior boundaries shall have guardrails and tor boards, same for shaft openings
  • All electrical tools and equipment must be adequately earthed.
  • Employees must not work on, or in proximity of unprotected live circuits unless adequate safety measures have been taken.
  • ONLY authorized employees are allowed to work on repair electrical equipment
  • Portable electric tools and extensions leads must be fitted with proper plugs and sockets.
  • Electric leads must be preferable hung in safe position, not lying on the ground and especially not in water.
  • Do not use matches to light torches. Spark ignites must not be used. Torches must not be used to light smoking materials.
  • Appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn.
  • When a key is required to open / close the acetylene valve. They key must be kept in position of the valve.
  • Store and transport cylinders in the correct approved manner secure them on a bottle cradle – secure all cylinders, empty and in the vertical position with the valve.
  • Open the cylinder valve only when work is being done. Close the valve when not in use. Flash back arrestors must be used.
  • Locate gas cylinders outside buildings, structure or confirmed areas as far as possible.
